About State of Delmarva.com
In the simplest terms, the Delmarva Peninsula is 5,454 square miles and home to close to 1.4 million people. It is bordered by the Chesapeake Bay on the west, the Delaware River, Delaware Bay and Atlantic Ocean on the east, and the Elk River and its isthmus on the north. The Chesapeake and Delaware Canal makes the entire land mass circumnavigable, but not officially an island.
However, Delmarva is anything but simple: It’s an area that’s rich in history, complex in culture (from farm hands to watermen; and from the throngs on the beach to the peace on the bay) and equally diverse in views and opinion. Despite this variation there is an enduring identity that holds it all together. We call that universal understanding The State of Delmarva.
The State of Delmarva.com is a single site created to bring you those wide variety of opinions, conversations and news -- from the very top of the canal at the head of the bay, way down to the tippy toes of the tunnel. We are working to cast the widest net, to bring you a single window on world nearest to you, uppermost in your mind and dearest to your heart.
